Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Shark is designed with privacy at its core. Here's what data exists and where it lives:

Data Stored Locally (On Your Device Only)

• Period logs: Cycle dates, flow intensity, and duration
• Symptom tracking: Cramps, mood, energy levels, and other symptoms
• Predictions: AI-generated cycle predictions based on your local data
• App preferences: Notification settings, display preferences, and customizations
• Health correlations: Insights and analytics generated from your local data

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it or enable iCloud sync.

Data We May Process (Anonymously)

• Crash reports: If the app crashes, anonymous diagnostic data may be sent to help us fix bugs
• App analytics: Anonymous usage patterns (e.g., which features are popular) to improve the app via TelemetryDeck

This data contains no personal identifiers and cannot be linked back to you.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

All personal health data is stored locally using Apple's secure frameworks:

• Core Data: Your logs and predictions are stored in an encrypted local database
• Keychain: Sensitive settings are protected by iOS Keychain encryption
• iCloud (Optional): If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs across your devices through Apple's encrypted CloudKit service with end-to-end encryption. We never see this data.

3. Apple HealthKit Integration

Shark can integrate with Apple Health to provide a more complete picture of your health. When you grant permission:

• We can write your menstrual cycle data to Apple Health for your records
• Future versions may read additional health data to correlate with your cycle

Important: HealthKit data is governed by Apple's strict privacy policies. We only access the specific data types you approve, and this data stays on your device.

4. AI and Machine Learning

Shark uses Core ML for cycle predictions. Important points:

• On-device processing: All ML predictions run locally on your device
• No cloud AI: Your data is never sent to external AI services
• Privacy-preserved learning: The AI learns from your patterns without ever transmitting your data

5. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat

For subscription management, we use RevenueCat. They process subscription status but do not have access to your health data.

TelemetryDeck

We use TelemetryDeck for privacy-focused, anonymous analytics. No personal data is collected or transmitted.

Apple StoreKit

For in-app purchases, we use Apple's StoreKit framework. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple - we never see your payment information.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal health data with anyone. Period.

The only ways your data can be shared:

• iCloud Sync: If enabled, syncs between your own devices only (encrypted end-to-end)
• Your Choice: Any sharing you choose to do is entirely under your control

7. Children's Privacy

Shark is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used Shark, please contact us and we'll help you delete any data.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time:

• In-app: Go to Settings → Delete All Data
• Device: Simply delete the Shark app - all local data is removed
• iCloud: Data can be removed through your iCloud settings

Since we don't store your data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete on our end.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

• All local data is encrypted using iOS security frameworks
• Sensitive data uses Keychain encryption
• iCloud sync uses end-to-end encryption
• App transport security (ATS) for any network communications
• Regular security audits of our codebase
• Privacy manifest included as required by Apple

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do:

• We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top
• For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app
• Continued use of Shark means you accept the updated policy
